Courtesy: A Lost Custom With Positive Aspects

If there is one thing that has changed radically in recent times, it is how our romantic relationship  begins. Courtesy  is either in danger of extinction or already extinct in some cases. The culture of extreme speed has invaded even the most unnoticed areas, and among these, love.

More precisely, it is “speed dating” that defines a large number of relationships in the world today. It seems that courtesy is no longer necessary. And yet, many couples get tired of the lack of emotion and magic. In other words, of romance.

Courtesy is not exclusive to humans. In fact, most animal species have waiting rituals. Although they instinctively get together almost exclusively to mate and have offspring, they do not perform the action without introduction. The function of this procession is to communicate, synchronize and prepare the terrain biologically, where the goal is to maximize fertility.

But among people, courtesy has lost a lot of prestige. It is considered an unnecessary decoration. We say: “let’s see where it goes”. There are no actions to try to get the other person’s love. Instead, it is mixed signals that lead to relationships whose fate is to be temporary.

Many times the two are not even sure they like each other. So what are these actions and elements of courtesy that are becoming a thing of the past? Here are some of them…

Flowers, a courtesy classic

Flowers are a universal language and an important part of romantic courtship. When someone receives flowers as a gift without it being a special anniversary or something to be celebrated, they are a direct message of love. They are a compliment and at the same time a great way to express interest.

Giving flowers requires a little courage today. For many, it is a “corny” symbol, while it can be risky – they can be rejected. But it’s hard to turn your back on such a great gift. Still, it’s true, it takes courage because flowers obviously declare that you have a romantic interest in the other. It makes you vulnerable.

Mobile phones are not romantic

There is so much fear of rejection that people often look for distractions so that they do not have to express the interest they feel for someone. Mobile phones fit into this section. They allow us to show periodic attention. If all goes well, the device is ignored. But if there is some tension or things are not “flowing”, we turn to our mobile phone to avoid the situation.

Turning off the phone and putting it away can be a nice gesture of courtesy. This means that you will pay attention exclusively to the person in front of you. It also means that you do not play hide and seek and that you know what you want. When you want to show that you are interested in someone, there is nothing better than letting them see and feel that they are important to you.

What are we?

It is very normal that two people involved with each other do not really know what relationship they are in.  Nothing has been talked about, and it is believed that naming it is limiting or involves obligation. Leaving the meaning of the relationship open, however, is not so wise, since there is no better way to create misunderstandings than that.

Expressing interest in someone directly does not mean that there will be something like ” Dangerous Desire “. On the contrary, defining the relationship ensures that there is no reason to be anxious or to make wrong assumptions. Expressing what you want from a relationship is a way to build trust, and it makes everything flow more naturally.

Beautiful words

An “I like you” does not always express what you really feel or want. It does not say much to the one who hears it either. It’s one of the standardized expressions that summarizes the idea that you want a relationship with the other person, but it does not make much more sense than that.

Beautiful, meaningful words will never go out of style.  There are many who really admire the other person, but they do not say so. Either because they are not used to expressing themselves or because they fear that they are going too far. Or maybe they feel that the other person is in a position of power. But there is no reason to be afraid. In courtesy, beautiful words should always be said. They nurture relationships and give them their magic.

What makes courtesy important is the special atmosphere it gives to a relationship. Not only does it make it more magical, but it also sets loving, respectful guidelines for the relationship.  It allows us to experience the tenderness that feels so good. That’s why we say that courting can be something that is worth starting again…
