Today we are going to tell you some habits that can help you strengthen the relationship with your children. Try them, then!

Part of the job as a mother or father is to guide the children and help them with their daily routine. This involves setting boundaries, correcting behaviors, saying no, and telling them what to do. But your relationship with your children is so much more than that.

Raising a child is much more than leading them down the path you think is right. Creating positive interactions with your children will not only improve their emotional growth and education. It will also make the job easier. The following suggestions may seem insignificant or a waste of time, but we promise they are not.

You probably already know how important it is to hug your children. Virginia Satir says we need four hugs a day to survive, eight hugs a day to stay where we are, and twelve hugs a day to grow. Many, many writers have written about the same idea.

But can hugs make up for the bad moments we have with our kids? Because let’s be honest, we all experience bad days with our children. There will always be negative interactions that we cannot always avoid or control.

Positive interactions for a healthy relationship with your children

We all long for the intimate moments with our children, the times when your heart melts. These moments of contact are as important to parents as they are to children. When the relationship is strong, everything one sacrifices to raise a child becomes worth it.

This contact is also the only reason why children will follow rules voluntarily. Children who feel strongly connected to their parents will cooperate. When they trust that you will always understand and be on their side, they are motivated to follow the lead.

Being a parent is not easy. It has never been, but these days it is even more complicated. As parents, we know that we must spend time with our children and try to have quality time with them. But does it make up for everything else? Fortunately, the answer is yes.

Studies show that you need at least five positive interactions for every single negative interaction during the day. This balance makes it possible to have a healthy and good relationship that can withstand normal conflicts in everyday life. When you do not have enough positive interactions, you lose your balance.

When you lose this delicate balance, your children will resist your advice. They will not follow or accept your rules. When the balance is tipped, the children’s attitude changes.

But we are so busy and have so much to do. Where can we find time to have these positive interactions with our children? When can we restore the important balance?

Habits to strengthen the relationship with your children

There are many things you can do to strengthen your relationship with your children. The key to making these positive interactions effective is that they should happen every day. That is why it is so important to include this type of interaction in your daily routine.

The best thing about implementing these ideas is that you are not just compensating for the bad times. You want to make the whole day better. By focusing on positive interactions, you give less room for negative interactions. Also, when you establish such habits, your children will be more cooperative, quarrel less, and try to obey better.

1. – Enjoy a few moments every morning with your children. You do not have to talk, it is enough to just enjoy. Give them a hug. Waking up this way is the best way to start the day.

2. – Talk to your children during breakfast. Ask them what they are going to do that day. Be interested in their answers.

3. – Give them sweet letters. You can put a small letter in the lunch box, between the pages in the notebooks, or on the desk.

4. Sing and / or dance with your children to their favorite songs.

5. – Always say goodbye with a hug or a kiss. Say they must have a nice day and remember to remind them to have fun.

6. – Always greet the children with a hug or a kiss. Show interest in the school day or what kind of activity they did.

7. – Do not do work-related things when you are with your children. This includes phone calls, emails, social media and instant messaging.

8.  Rage attacks are usually a sign of anxiety. Children usually do not have this to challenge you. When something like this happens, relax and stop whatever you are doing to help your child. Help them vent their anger. Be there if they need it and try to let them relieve all their emotions. When they are ready, encourage them to talk. Your job is to listen.

9. – Be encouraging when the child is faced with a difficult task. Pay attention to their fears and give positive words and good gestures.

10. – Laugh at their jokes, even if they may be stupid. If their jokes are disrespectful or inappropriate, tell them nicely that they are not funny.

11. – Show empathy for all the feelings of your child. You can limit their actions, but not their emotions. All emotions are acceptable. When you recognize how children feel, you strengthen the connection with them. Not only that, but you also encourage their emotional intelligence.

12. – Try to find some time each day to play with them, no matter what they want to play. Let your imagination run wild and follow their instructions. It does not matter if it is not very long. The most important thing is that it should happen every day. Also, make sure that it fits into the child’s routine.

13. – Share at least one meal a day with your children. Do not turn on the TV. Instead, encourage conversation by asking questions that the children will find interesting.

14. – Listen with compassion. Be careful when they tell you about the problems they have at school, especially those related to their friends or someone they like. Listening is one of the most important habits to have if you want to strengthen your relationship with your children.

15. – Read or sing a song with your children before bed. If they are too old for that, encourage them to read before bed and show interest in the book they are reading.

16. – Kiss your kids good night. If they need to talk, listen. If they are worried about something, talking about it will help them sleep.

17. – Take a look inside your child’s room to make sure everything is in order before you go to bed. Even if they do not know you are doing this, it will strengthen their bond.

Janet Fackrell made a very magnificent observation:  “Some nights I check how our sleeping children are doing before I go to bed. I watch their softly shaggy heads lie asleep on the pillows, and sadness overwhelms me. Have I had enough of their smiles, laughter or given them enough hugs, or have I just ticked off things from my to-do list today? They grow so fast. One morning I may wake up and one of my girls is getting married, and I want to worry: Have I played enough with them? Have I taken advantage of the opportunity to be a part of their lives? ”

Do not miss your chance to have a strong relationship with your children!
